When your engine light comes on, a trouble code will be stored in one or more of your vehicle’s computers. There are certain conditions that have to be met for a trouble code to set, and it is very important to check all of them before the technician makes a decision regarding repair.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is effectively the “tip of the iceberg”. The trouble code takes you to “an area” for further testing to properly determine where the real fault is. The diagnostic fee allows us the time to thoroughly test and accurately determine the real cause of the warning light using the professional test equipment.
We will connect to your vehicle and retrieve the codes that are triggering your light to illuminate and if possible will clear them for you.

What is a DPF?
The Diesel Particulate Filter is in the exhaust system of all diesel-powered cars. It is a vital component that is designed to enable cars to pass increasingly tough emissions legislation. The DPF’s job is to trap the particles that are caused by the compression-ignition combustion process and thereby prevent harmful smoke from being pumped into the atmosphere. Like any filter, the DPF will gradually get clogged with the soot that it traps. However, the car is designed to clean it by heating this residue up, turning it to ash and expelling it. This happens about every 300 miles, either when you travel at motorway speed, or because the Engine Control Unit initiates what’s known as regeneration by raising exhaust temperatures artificially.
Why to clean a DPF?
In stop/start traffic, or on short journeys, a regeneration may not get time to complete. This will cause the DPF to block partially and an orange light will come on in the instrument cluster. Ignore the light and continue driving slowly or in traffic and eventually the engine will lose power and stop. If the car needs a new DPF, we’re talking more than £1000, that’s why it’s important to clean the DPF when the light first appears.
What do we use?
Suitable for both petrol and diesel combustion engines, the Carbon Tec HHO loosens built-up carbon by releasing hydrogen into the combustion engine’s air inlet system whilst running. These deposits block and clog the engine which can cause expensive issues; resolving these prior to damage can save hundreds of pounds on parts and labour for vehicles with and without DPFs.
The machine works by providing a controlled flow of HHO which raises the temperature during combustion to burn off built up deposits in the engine. The production of HHO is reduced to prevent engine runaway and excessive temperatures which can cause damage to the engine and components. This limited HHO production protects both the vehicle and operator by maintaining the required oxygen balance laid out by the engine parameters. When this is not adhered to, the imbalance can cause DTCs and other associated engine issues. The amount of suggested applications will depend on the vehicles mileage and issues being addressed, it is important to remember that the Carbon Tec HHO is not a cure-all but a tool to help clean the engine and associated areas.
